Geothermal Series

I visited Yellowstone National Park for the first time several years ago and was astonished by the vivid mineral color patterns found across the park's geothermal areas, created by algae and bacteria thriving on the basins and terraces. The pressure and energy emitted by the steam vents and geysers were a thrilling spectacle for me to experience as well. Back home in my studio I have attempted to recreate a visual sense of that percolating activity on stretched canvas using metallic, iridescent pigments and texturizing agents.
